Option 1. Champagne & Reims
Champagne: Where the world’s best bubbly was born Champagne is one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world. It is here that they create the benchmark sparkling wines, Here you will find beautiful vineyards, medieval towns and castles, and, of course, lots of great bars and cellars to taste the best of the best: Veuve Clicquot, Moet & Chandon, Dom Perignon, MUMM, Cristal to name a few and enjoy countless bubbles in every glass. The Montagne de Reims slopes, stretching from northwest Reims to Épernay, are home to many Grand Cru and Premier Cru champagne houses. What else would you need for a perfect day out in France?
Reims Cathedral
Travelling in a small group, you will see the Rheims Cathedral, which is one of the pinnacles of 13th-century Gothic art and the most stunning structure in the entire city. The majority of French kings were crowned in this masterpiece. After that, you might find mysterious, antiquated champagne cellars. You will learn about Champagne harvesting, processing, and bottling from a knowledgeable guide in the cellars. You will, of course, taste some Champagne.
Champagne House
In the afternoon, enjoy panoramic views from the Lighthouse of Verzenay overlooking surrounding vineyards, and get a behind-the-scenes peek at Champagne production during a cellar tour to "Mumm" or "Pommery" cellars.
Option 2. Wine & Loire Valley Castles
Chambord On this full-day, small-group journey to the Loire Valley from Paris, see three medieval chateaux. Ride in comfort with a six-person maximum in a chaffeured Mercedes minivan. During this full-day excursion from Paris, marvel at the beautiful châteaux of the Loire Valley and savor its renowned regional wine. First, take a tour to Château de Chambord, which served as the model for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."
Chambord
Unique architectural jewel built starting in 1519 at the request of François I, a lover of the arts and passionate hunter, the château of Chambord has become emblematic of the French Renaissance in Europe and throughout the world. What you will find, however, at this 16th-century gem, is an innovative architectural feature to move between floors: the Chambord staircase, which has two spirals so that two people can use the staircase at the same time without running into one another!
Blois
You'll have just under two hours to enjoy some free time in a quaint town of Blois, the official residence of the King of France during the Renaissance. The Château de Blois also houses the Museum of Fine Arts. Located on the first floor of the Louis-XII wing, the museum exhibits sculptures and other works of art, including paintings by masters such as Rubens, Ingres and Boucher. Below the castle is a lively old town with narrow streets and ancient buildings. Blois was in its heyday as a royal town in the 16th century and much of its architecture reflects this period though there are also buildings dating to the 12th century.
Chenonceau Castle
Finally, we reach splendid Château de Chenonceau to marvel its numerous sweeping stone carvings and taste some wines. Among the legendary proprietors that gave Chenonceau the moniker "the Ladies' Château," Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici, you shouldn't miss the magnificent main hall that spans the Cher river or the gardens they created. The chapel, bedrooms, and spectacular domed kitchens are still furnished.
Wine Tasting
You can opt for a second wine tasting in the castle's vaulted wine cellar. This journey is a feast for the senses, featuring three very gorgeous castles, delectable cuisine and wine, and the Loire Valley's breathtaking countryside.
Option 3. Versailles Palace
Versailles Beyond Paris, the château and grounds of Versailles are a must-see. There is no better place in France to relive history during the reign of the Sun King. You will be astounded by Louis XIV's splendor as you pass through the Hall of Mirror, which has hosted the most significant personalities since the 18th century. Admire the Stabling amenities and the Royal Apartments. Then enter Marie Antoinette's world and explore her estate and Trianon. Learn about the magnificent French-style gardens that the master Le Notre created. Your pass includes priority access.
Versailles
After four years of devastating fighting, the First World War came to an end in 1919 in Versailles. The treaty, which represented “peace” for some and a “diktat” for others, also sowed the seeds of the Second World War, which would break out twenty years later. Lunch is served at the restaurant "La Petite Venise" located in the palace park facing the beautiful Grand Canal. 3 courses to choose, drinks included (soft drink or glass of wine+coffee).
Gardens & Trianon
The guided tour of the Trianons, which are enormous lodges designed to resemble mansions and were favorite retreats of Louis XV and Louis XVI, will continue in the afternoon. Visit the Queen's Hamlet, where Marie Antoinette performed as a shepherdess beginning in 1783.
Fontains
April through October (Saturdays and Sundays) and mid-May to the end of June (Tuesdays) are the dates for the Versailles Fountain Show Special Program. You have the choice to view the stunning fountain presentations for a limited period of time, which showcase the expertise and creativity of three centuries of French garden engineering and design. The music for the display was written during the reign of Louis XIV.
