Day 6: Departure from Paris

Le Bristol Paris — opened in 1925 and never closed, even during WWII, when it housed the American Embassy. Its restaurant Epicure has held three Michelin stars since 2009 — and yes, there's a hotel cat.

Four Seasons Hotel George V — opened in 1928, famous for its extravagant lobby flower displays and its three-Michelin-star restaurant, Le Cinq.

Le Meurice

Le Meurice — Salvador Dalí stayed here one to two months every year for nearly 30 years; the hotel's restaurant, Le Dali, is named after him.

Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme

Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme — the building once housed Paquin, one of the great Belle Époque fashion houses, before becoming a hotel in 2002.

Hôtel Plaza Athénée

Hôtel Plaza Athénée — Christian Dior loved this hotel so much he opened his atelier directly across the street in 1947, and named two dresses after it.

Le Royal Monceau

Le Royal Monceau — Israel's founding documents were signed here in 1948. Reimagined by Philippe Starck in 2010, it now runs its own art gallery and a 99-seat private cinema.

Shangri-La Paris

Shangri-La Paris — once the private mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte, Napoleon's grand-nephew.

Mandarin Oriental Paris

Mandarin Oriental Paris — the building was once a circus, the Nouveau Cirque, with a ring that flooded into a water pool for aquatic shows.

La Réserve Paris

La Réserve Paris — built in 1854 for the family of the Duc de Morny, Napoleon III's half-brother, and later home to Pierre Cardin's Résidence Maxim's before becoming La Réserve in 2015.

The Peninsula Paris

The Peninsula Paris — opened in 1908 as the Hôtel Majestic; hosted the 1919 peace talks after WWI and the 1973 Paris Peace Accords that ended the Vietnam War.

Hôtel Lutetia

Hôtel Lutetia — James Joyce wrote parts of Ulysses at the lobby piano here in the 1920s. In 1945, it became the reception center where concentration camp survivors returned to Paris.

Hôtel de Crillon

Hôtel de Crillon — built in 1758 on Place de la Concorde; the same room hosted the 1778 signing of the treaty recognizing American independence. Past guests include Churchill, Chaplin, and Madonna.

Champagne was probably our favorite part honestly, walked around the vineyards, tried more wine than we probably should have, and got to do a sabrage ourselves, stuff you're just not getting on a normal tour. My wife and I got upgraded to a suite at Le Meurice without even asking, just a surprise waiting for us at check-in, she nearly fell over. Booked our trip to the Paris 2024 Olympics with World of Discoveries and have been exceptionally pleased with the experience and customer service. WOD created a a customized pre-trip excursion to Normandy for tours of the D-Day Beaches and Mont St Michel, as well as a week-long stay in Paris for the games, and drivers/transportation arranged for all our transfers. When our original hotel was bought out by one of the Olympics delegations, WOD seamlessly booked us at another (upgraded) location with no issues. Communication was easy and effective by email, and our in-country representatives during the games were proactively in touch regarding transfer information or to help answer questions. I had not used WOD prior to this experience, but will definitely do so for our next big adventure!
