15-day Tour

You may choose any 15-day period within 12 June - 1 July

Day 1 - June 12 - Cordoba

Arrive at Cordoba. We recommend taking a direct flight from Auckland, New Zealand, to Buenos Aires arriving 4:40 pm on June 12 with a convenient connection for 1,5 hours flight to Cordoba. Pick up at Cordoba airport and transfer to your hotel in the downtown. Check-in and relax after a long flight.

Day 2 - June 13 - Cordoba / Match vs Uruguay

After breakfast at the hotel, the morning is free for your leisure. The bus will collect us all from the hotel a few hours before the game for your first Argentinian bar crawling. We will arrive at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes venue for Australia vs Uruguay match. After the game, we all head to a welcome dinner & Fan Party in one of the best local venues. After the party transfer back to the hotel for overnight or keep partying with the old/new friends in the city. Cordoba is the second largest city of Argentina, be ready to experience great night life!

Day 3 - June 14 - Calamuchita Valley

Head off to a full day guided tour of Calamuchita valley. Our first stop, neat Alta Gracia town, is the birthplace of famous Cuban revolutionary, Che Guevara. Visit local museum which contains some iconic images of “Che”, who is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters on the continent. The town itself dates back to 1643 when it was chosen as a Jesuit Estancia, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, it's time to visit the most emblematic wineries of the area! See the winemaking process, enjoy stunning scenery, and of course taste famous local wines. Barbeque lunch with real Argie steak is also a part of the experience and is included. Return to Cordoba, time for shopping, relaxation in your hotel or to explore city on your own.

Day 4 - June 15 - Cordoba & Rosario

Discover Cordoba on a guided city tour exploring rich Jesuit and prominent intellectual history of the city. Breathtaking landscapes add a fine note to your experience of the day. After lunch, drive towards Rosario, Argentina’s third-largest city and our next destination. Late evening, arrive Rosario and check in. Spend your evening tasting Argie steaks and Malbec at one of the many parillas in the city, or opt for international options like Italian, Spanish, and sushi - Rosario is a gourmet destination. Before dinnertime, be sure to try Rosario’s typical aperitif, the Amargo Obrero.

Day 5 - June 16 - Rosario & Buenos Aires

After breakfast, take a guided tour exploring the best Rosario has to offer. Fantastic waterfront of the Paraná River, which is second-largest in Latin America; birthplace of Che Guevara and Lionel Messi. Quite unexpectedly, Argentina’s ice cream is some of the best in the world and Rosario is actually the national capital of artisanal ice cream. Taste the best fish in Argentina - thanks to Parana river, meat is not number 1 meal here in Rosario. Transfer to Buenos Aires to your cozy hotel in the downtown and check in.

Day 6 - June 17 - La Plata / Match vs Paraguay

Have a great breakfast at the hotel in Buenos Aires and then take a 1-hour bus ride to La Plata, another host venue, a suburb of Buenos Aires. We start with bar crawling and then head to the stadium to support the Socceroos against Paraguay. After the game, continue with bar crawling with fellow fans. Return to the hotel after the game or keep parting in the city.

Day 9 - June 20 - Montevideo / Colonia

Guided tour in the capital of Uruguay with a visit to a historical soccer venue, Estadio Centenario. The stadium was built between 1929 and 1930 to host the inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup. On July 18, 1983, it was declared by FIFA as the only historical monument of World Football, the only building of its kind worldwide! Estadio Centenario is the primary home of the Uruguay national team. Guided visit to the venue is a highlight of our visit to Montevideo. Then, take a walking tour in the city centre. This beautiful city traditionally amazes its visitors by numerous architectural styles, beautiful parks and avenues, and the greatness of the River Uruguay. After late lunch, transfer to Colonia and check-in.

Day 10 - June 21 - Colonia / Buenos Aires

After breakfast, time for a walking tour in the fascinating downtown of Colonia. There is no city in this region of South America similar to Colonia del Sacramento merging the amazing architectural traditions of both Portugal and Spain. It has preserved many unique monuments. Colourful facades, vine-draped shops and palm-fringed boardwalks set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site ( the only one in Uruguay!) and is the type of laid-back place where one simply wanders around losing track of time. Colonia delivers the perfect blend of sophistication and quaintness with its picturesque cobbled streets, post-colonial ruins and fancy boutiques and food stops. Auto enthusiasts will be mesmerized by a parade of vintage cars—VWs, old Fords and Hillmans are parked all around the historic quarter, giving Cuban Havana a good run. Time at leisure to explore city on your own before we’re heading to the port of Colonia to board return ferry to Argentina. Transfer to hotel in Buenos Aires and check-in.

Explore the downtown with Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada, Cabildo, and Metropolitan Cathedral, go to famous Recoleta area. Look at Puerto Madero, the recycled former port dock, stroll down beautiful Bosques del Palermo, the green lung of Buenos Aires, the pass by Colón Theatre and the famous Obelisk at the 9th Avenue. Finish the tour with a visit to famous Boca Juniors “La Bombonera” Stadium. Evening free at leisure.

At its center, the open expanse of Plaza Moreno is crowned by the grand, neo-Gothic Cathedral of La Plata. Also on the plaza is the Palacio Municipal, built in German Renaissance style. Opened on June 7, 2003, the Estadio Ciudad de La Plata has capacity of 53,000.

Alternatively, you can get there by bus (it will take 10h 45m), or by train (it will take 10h 45m). It’s home to the country’s oldest surviving university and its rugged outskirts provide plenty of adventurous activities like parasailing and horseback riding. Córdoba is much more relaxed than Buenos Aires, so feel free to linger over a long lunch, relax in the square with a coffee or ice cream, and meet a few of the laid back locals. A football stadium in Córdoba is the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes with a capacity 57,000.

First Time in History!

It would be the first time Australia features in the Copa America, which has traditionally invited teams from outside the continent to make it a 12-team tournament. The Socceroos would be guaranteed five matches, with 12 teams are divided into two groups of six, with the top four advancing to the quarter-finals. Socceroos coach Graham Arnold said the Copa America will provide a further boost to his team as it works through a busy calendar next year.

Uruguay vs Australia / 13 June / Cordoba

The National Team of Uruguay is the biggest winner of the Copa America: with 15 titles. The “Celeste” was the first winner of the tournament, in 1916, and her last achievement of the title was accomplished in 2011, in the tournament that was played in Argentina, defeating Paraguay 3-0. Uruguay has only stopped participating in one of the 45 editions of the Copa América, when in 1925 it decided not to attend the event in Argentina, due to internal problems within its Association.

Paraguay vs Australia / 17 June / La Plata

The Paraguayan team is twice winner of the Copa América. They raised the trophy of the tournament in 1953 and 1979. These two titles, together with the silver medal at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, are the greatest achievements of the Guarani team. In addition, Paraguay reached at least the semifinals in two of the last three editions of the Copa América (final in 2011 and semifinals in 2015), although they won only one of the 15 matches played in those editions (9 ties and 5 losses): it was 1-0, against Jamaica, in 2015.

Bolivia vs Australia / 22 June / La Plata

The most important performance in the history of “La Verde” in the Copa America was in 1963 when the competition was played for the first time in Bolivia and at that time the tournament was still called the South American Football Championship. Besides the great football deployed and having as an ally at the altitude of La Paz, the Bolivian team prevailed in the tournament, an event that made the foundations of the country vibrate. Meanwhile, Bolivia participated three times in a FIFA World Cup: was invited in 1930 and 1950, and qualified for the tournament that was held in the United States 1994.

Argentina vs Australia / 26 June / Buenos Aires

The Argentinian National Team is the second most successful in the CONMEBOL Copa América. With 14 titles in their history, the Albiceleste always makes her fans vibrate, as they are a candidate to win the continental tournament. In addition to the 14 trophies achieved, the Argentines have expressive and historical marks in the tournament. They are the top goalscorers with a total of 455 goals scored and have the biggest victory with a 12-0 against Ecuador, in 1942. Through the history of the tournament, the ‘gauchos’ have 119 victories, more than any other team, and only 39 defeats, the best selection in this section. The country also hosted the competition nine times.

Chile vs Australia / 30 June / Cordoba

Until its 2015 version, Chile was one of the three South American countries that had never won the Copa América. Along with Venezuela and Ecuador, La Roja had some chances especially in the 1950s, where they were runners-up in two consecutive editions, but were not able to secure the trophy. But that year changed the history forever, and under the Golden Generation, with Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sánchez, and Gary Medel, among others, the team was able to beat Argentina in the final game and repeat the story one year later in the Copa America Centenario against the same team in the final.

Our reviews

Douglas Schroeder

Everything worked like clockwork, when someone was suppose to be there they were. Yuri and Cathrine were excellent guides in Moscow and St. Petersburg and we learned a lot from both. We chose the 4 star hotels, and were very satisfied. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested.

Xmas in Georgia and Armenia. We wanted a personalized custom vacation to a rarely visited area of the world and found World of Discoveries tour of Armenia and Georgia fit just perfectly. Very well organized and planned, and guides were awesome. Our tour guides in both countries were packed with knowledge of architecture and cultural history, but above all they were friendly and helpful. Rafik in Armenia even took us to his parent’s home in the centre of Yerevan and we enjoyed home-made meals and talks with the locals. It was a very special evening. Be prepared for some long journeys to reach the most exciting destinations in both countries.

I decided to use the Tour Service of the World Cup after some extensive research into the tour alternatives. These guys seemed to differentiate its tour Service by providing a more culturally based service with a healthy dose of Football and Fun. My experience was that it as well run ie they delivered on their promises. They have a health mix of local staff and Australian staff. The Russian staff had a great empathy for the challenges for us Aussies traveling in a country where you had no language skills they bridged that gap with there wonderful help. I know there are many alternative tours but this one certainly lived up to its name. I felt I discovered part of Russia but there’s plenty more to go!’ Overall just a great experience

Amazing trip to Mongolia

I can't sing the praises loud enough for the operator and their true welcoming, accommodating and approach. From the time I landed and was met by a driver at the airport to take me to my hotel, to fabulous guide, Boloryuya, who worked, it seemed, 24/7 to make sure this trip was everything I dreamed of. From seeking Takhi wild horses with local resident Neema, to meeting reindeer herdsman while in Lake Kovsgol area, from horse back riding and camel rides to a yurt stay at Gobi desert, everything went as planned and exceeded expectations. September seemed a perfect choice to visit Mongolia. Everything from planning and booking, till the farewell transfer to airport, every team member went above and beyond to make it happened the way it was and I’m sending my appraisal too all of you guys. Choose World of Discoveries when you are in need of adventure beyond the ordinary. You name it, they find a way to make it happen. It was truly amazing.

Stacey Filrose

Me and my family just returned from an Easter break to Moscow. I found the tour very good value for money and the company's assistance with the visa application was also helpful. Reservations, payment, visa letter, and pre-departure correspondence prior to trip (via email) was prompt and well explained with no problems. Final arrangements information were detailed. We knew exactly what to expect, who will be waiting for us, time and venue to meet even with any guides with us. Transport transfers and driver were punctual.

Georgia in autumn! We had a wonderful trip - one that will stay with us for a long time. Everything was so well organized. All our guides were very informative, and accommodations were just fine. Pre-tour service was very good too and we had travel a lot. My husband’s grandparents are from Georgia and we wanted to explore family routes. All our guides were great in terms of looking after us and they really were so interesting to speak to. Altogether, we had a wonderful time and I would love to explore more of the region and visit neighboring counties.
